About Our Mentoring Program
The Eagle Academy for Young Men, in partnership with, One Hundred Black Men, Inc., places positive males from community, civic, corporate, faith-based, fraternal and other organizations to mentor youth.
Mentors are pivotal in exposing youth, many of whom are from challenging backgrounds, to various career options, the benefits of pursuing high academic achievement, the true meaning of leadership, and most importantly, to a caring adult figure, who genuinely values and believes in their potential to succeed.
The Program provides training and guidelines to all mentors to ensure a relatively smooth transition into their mentoring relationships.
All mentors fill out an application, go through orientation and be fingerprinted before training by the One Hundred Black Men.
Requirements of Mentors
ALL mentors will complete an official application and interview process, as well as, undergo a thorough background check before being admitted into the program. Mentors commit to the program for a minimum of one year, meeting at least one (1) Saturday a month for maximum 4 hours each session throughout the school year.
Requirements of Mentees
Student mentees are expected to be mentally and physically present and on-time to all mentoring sessions.
