Letter to the School Community on September 15
September 15, 2020
Hello Eagle Families,
It is our hope that this correspondence finds you and your families safe and healthy. I want to thank you for your patience as we navigate through uncharted waters with our reopening. We are currently working diligently to ensure that our reopening is a safe and positive one, and we cannot wait to begin engaging with all of our scholars as we return to school.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16, 2020, we will officially begin our school year with a Remote Learning Orientation Session for all scholars. Scholars DO NOT report to the school building for the online orientation sessions. Our orientation sessions run from 9:00am to 10:00am each of the next three days (Wednesday, September 16th through Friday, September 18th) and will occur on the Google Meet platform. During this time, scholars will meet the educators for their grade level and begin exploring topics related to the return to school and reconnection to Eagle’s community and core values. Additionally, these workshops are designed to orient and support our young men to our hybrid online learning platforms.
The expectations for these orientation sessions are as follows:
Scholars can begin logging in at 8:45am. Workshops begin promptly at 9:00am and will last one hour.
As scholars have done in the past, they will record their daily attendance in a centralized Google Classroom space. Scholars will receive invitations to their Google Classroom spaces directly and will utilize their Eagle Bronx accounts. More information about their attendance submission expectations will be posted in their Google Classrooms and mentioned in the orientation sessions.
Scholars should have cameras on, microphones muted, and ready to be fully present in these sessions. Scholars do not need to be in uniform until September 21st, but should dress appropriately: no undershirts only, no headwear, appropriate messages on clothing, if any, etc.
Scholars are expected to adhere to the NYCDOE’s Internet Acceptable Use Policy available here: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/about-us/policies/internet-acceptable-use-policy
In order for scholars to join the meetings, they must use their Eagle Academy-issued email addresses. More information about these accounts is available at https://www.eaglebronx.org/for-scholars-families/onlineresources. Additionally, scholar email addresses are being emailed to parents today.

We’re actively working to meet the requests of families for technology. Contacting families is ongoing and all families who have requested technology will have what they need. Until all technology resources are distributed, your son can utilize his cell phone to access the meetings above.
Our Fall 2020 page on our website continues to be updated with information about our reopening. I encourage all families to visit it at https://www.eaglebronx.org/covid19 to read through our fall plans and procedures. Many answers to questions can be found there, but as always you can contact us at email@example.com should you need to reach out.
