Emergency Closing Procedures

Types of Closures

Beginning with the fall 2020 school year, there are three types of closures: classroom closures, Eagle Bronx school-wide closures, and city-wide closures. Read below for additional information.

It is CRITICAL that we have the most up-to-date contact information for our families. If you have not been receiving emails or phone blasts, send an email to remotelearning@eaglebronx.org to ask how to update your information. We may provide you with steps to prove your identity.

Classroom Closures

LOCAL MEDIA WILL NOT ANNOUNCE THESE CLOSURES.

This type of closure is a COVID-19 related closure and affects only individual classrooms resulting in quarantine for student(s) and staff interacting in the classroom. For a classroom, only the building is closed. All learning switches to remote instruction for the duration of the closure.

Notifications

Scholars and families affected by a classroom closure will be contacted by telephone directly.

Eagle Bronx School Closure

LOCAL MEDIA MIGHT ANNOUNCE THIS TYPE OF CLOSURE, BUT NOT GUARANTEED.

This type of closure affects only Eagle Bronx. It could be from a variety of issues: power outage, COVID-19, etc. For an Eagle Bronx School Closure, only the building is closed. All learning switches to remote instruction for the duration of the closure.

Notifications

The school community will be notified by email and PupilPath, the closure will be posted on the school website and Facebook account, and a phone blast will be sent. You will also be able to call the school and hear a recording.

Citywide Closure

LOCAL MEDIA WILL ANNOUNCE THIS TYPE OF CLOSURE.

This type of closure is usually from some sort of city-wide impact such as weather or natural disaster. For a city-wide closure, all public schools will close simultaneously. We may or may not switch to remote learning, depending on the situation. Pay attention to local media.

Notifications

Local media will announce the closure. We will also notify the school by email and PupilPath, the closure will be posted on the school website and Facebook account, and a phone blast will be sent. You will also be able to call the school and hear a recording.
